Chinthurst School is an independant boys school based in Tadworth known for their achievements in sports, music and art. I planned, developed and marketed their website.
Every school in England has a different structure, defining that structure so you can convey it is the first step to building a successful school website. Chinthurst School admits boys between the ages of 2½ to 13, there are three departments within the school seperated by age group.
Each age group has their own unique ethos and approach to teaching so the website is split in to sections. One to portray the school as a whole, providing practical information such as location etc but also showing the best achievements of each department.
Each department has its own course pages and you can filter all news, events and photo galleries by which department they belong to.
This website was developed using the Wasabi CMS so it is driven by OO PHP5, MySQL, XSLT/XML, XHTML 1.1, CSS, JavaScript and jQuery.
The rotating images on the homepage are a simple rotating script based on some jQuery that retrieves images from a photo gallery in the CMS. All news and events marked in the CMS as headliners are automatically brought through to the homepage
Apache was set up using mod deflate and expires headers to improve size and cache performance of the website.
During development the website was search engine optimized (semantic use of html, readable URL's etc) to increase it's standing in the online world and as part of an ongoing SEO process the content is regularly optimized to perform for certain keywords.
